can you get a home equity loan you dont technically own the home?

Saturday, 13. August 2011

My father technically owns my house, but I’m wanting to get a home equity loan with my father’s permission to add on a home office. If my dad gives the permission for it and I guess co-signs it, can I still get the loan in MY name? Or does it need to be in his? I just dont want to burden him with extra paper work and everything else if I can just take care of it myself. Thanks!

How do I get a home equity loan on secondary residence with no job?

    Friday, 12. August 2011

I’m currently layed off work, its only temporary, and I still have all my bills are paid, and good credit. I also have a vacation home with tons of equity. I want to get a small home equity loan, but have been having no luck.

Every lender wants me to be either currently employed, and/or have the property be my primary residence. How can I find a way around that? I just need a small loan, and there is way more than enough equity to cover it.

Can I refinance a home equity loan if I've only had it a couple of months?

        Wednesday, 10. August 2011

Problem, we recently had our home up for sale, but have since changed our mind. We applied for a small home equity loan through our local bank (17,000)so my husband could buy a car and we could pay off a couple of bills. In the meantime, a larger mortgage co that we also inquired with about this loan told us that they could consolidate all of our debt, and save us 0 every month even if we doubled our payment. So, we went with the larger co, however after going through the whole process with them , they came back and said that since our home was recently on the market, we would have to wait 60 more days to get a loan. (this would be 100% equity LTV) My question is, if we go with the smaller loan from our local bank (who doesn’t give 100% LTV loans), could we in fact get a home equity loan a few months down the road, pay off the 17000 loan and also pay off the rest of our debt? Is there some rule about how long after you receive a home equity loan before applying for another

Refinance Mortgage or Home Equity Loan?

          Saturday, 6. August 2011

I need to get some home repairs done and have the option to refinance my mortgage at the same rate (6%) for 30yrs or go the Home Equity loan route with 7.85% for 15 years. Does anyone know if one option is better than the other in the long run?

If you take a home equity loan on your house what happens to the mortgage payment????

            Thursday, 28. July 2011

for example just using simple numbers ……….lets say you take 10,000 dollar home equity loan out on your home……and your monthly mortgage payments are 1000 per month 30 year fixed….., does the 10k get added to your mortgage over the 30 years or does it become a separate payment from your mortgage for a shorter period of time like 5 or 10 years?

I can get a home equity loan. This would cover my credit card debt of 15,000. Tax break?

                Monday, 25. July 2011

If I take out a home equity loan at 8% to cover my 15k credit card debt at 13.99%. I will save in interest. But will I also get to write off a portion of the 8% come tax time because it involved loan related to my condo? Thanks
