my husband and i are in the process of buying our first home, it needs some work and we have some other debts we would like to pay off. are we able to get a home equity loan right away or do we have to wait until we are in the home a little while?

I took out an Home equity Loan of 60,000, so where on the 1040 should I report this.
As well, I kinda used the money from this to buy a car, 14000, and pay a medical bill for my mother in law for 20 000 (not my dependent)
Can I deduct these expenses anywhere on the 1040, if so where ?

I’m interested in the companies that reported the most losses due to defaults specifically to home equity loans and not necessarily losses due to mortgage delinquencies. I want to know which companies have the most exposure in the home equity loan market.

I’m an American citizen and I live and own a home in France. Home equity loans don’t exist here and my question is – am I able to get a home equity loan in the U.S. for the property I own here?

I have alot of school loan bills and credit card bills.. I’m wanting to pay everthing off at once so is a home equity loan a good way to do it. I owe about 10,000 – 15,000 in combined debt, and I have owned my home for 9 years. Is this a good way to pay off my debt?

My father technically owns my house, but I’m wanting to get a home equity loan with my father’s permission to add on a home office. If my dad gives the permission for it and I guess co-signs it, can I still get the loan in MY name? Or does it need to be in his? I just dont want to burden him with extra paper work and everything else if I can just take care of it myself. Thanks!

I’m currently layed off work, its only temporary, and I still have all my bills are paid, and good credit. I also have a vacation home with tons of equity. I want to get a small home equity loan, but have been having no luck.
Every lender wants me to be either currently employed, and/or have the property be my primary residence. How can I find a way around that? I just need a small loan, and there is way more than enough equity to cover it.
